The Comancheros Foundation is pleased to support the ALS Association for our upcoming event. The ALS Association has a very special place in the hearts of the Comanchero members as one of our own has contracted ALS more commonly called Lou Gehrig’s Disease.  He is leading the fight for us all and we are excited to help him fight this dreadful disease.  Join us in our upcoming charity event as he leads in the charge against ALS.  If you cannot join us, we ask that you contribute in time and support to the ALS Association. They are not only in need of our financial support for a cure, but they are continually looking for volunteers.

ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. A-myo-trophic comes from the Greek language. “A” means no. “Myo” refers to muscle, and “Trophic” means nourishment – “No muscle nourishment.” When a muscle has no nourishment, it “atrophies” or wastes away. “Lateral” identifies the areas in a person’s spinal cord where portions of the nerve cells that signal and control the muscles are located. As this area degenerates, it leads to scarring or hardening (“sclerosis”) in the region.
